Evaluation of the Medical Research Support Program
The Medical Research Support Program (MRSP) is the NSW Government’s flagship investment in independent medical research institutes. OHMR engaged MH Consulting Group (MHC) to undertake an independent evaluation of the program to understand what has been working well, what could be improved and how the MRSP can remain sustainable into the future.
The evaluation comprised of involved a process, outcome and economic evaluation that MHC conducted in partnership with Insight Economics and Nexus Management Consulting.
What MHC Did
- Designed and delivered an independent evaluation of the MRSP
- Consulted extensively with medical research institutes, NSW Government stakeholders and sector leaders
- Analysed qualitative and quantitative evidence relating to process and program outcomes
- Conducted a cost-benefit analysis
- Developed evidence-based findings and recommendations to support future program improvement
Outcome
The evaluation gave OHMR a robust, independent evidence base to assess the value, performance and future direction of the MRSP. It confirmed that the program represents value for money for NSW and provided practical insights to support future decisions about the program. The evaluation report available here.
MHC brought strong expertise, excellent stakeholder engagement and a genuinely collaborative approach. The team kept us engaged throughout the project and felt like true partners in the evaluation process.
