Procured through:
NSW Government Performance and Management Services Scheme
Project date: 2022-2023
Project: NSW Cancer Plan Monitoring and Evaluation Plan
MHC worked collaboratively with Cancer Institute NSW leaders to develop a Monitoring and Evaluation Plan for the NSW Cancer Plan 2022 – 2027.
What MHC Did
- Design evaluation and monitoring plan for a whole of state strategy
- Design strategy logic
- Advise on how evaluation results can feed into policy and program improvements
- Stakeholder consultation and facilitation
- Environmental scan and literature reviews
Outcome
A soon to be publicly available easy to read plan to assess progress towards meeting the NSW Cancer Plan goals and target outcomes and support continued improvements in its implementation.
MHC led an excellent process to gather input across the Institute and developed a clear monitoring and evaluation plan. It is accessible to all, even those who are not evaluation experts.

MHC reviewed the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) Dementia, Ageing and Aged Care Mission’s progress in: a) supporting dementia, ageing and aged care research in Australia; and b) meeting the objectives set out in the:
- Dementia, Ageing and Aged Care Mission Roadmap and Implementation Plan
- MRFF 10-year Investment Plan
- MRFF Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Strategy.

MHC was engaged by the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ, previously Department of Family and Community Services) to support the large-scale complex evaluation of the Future Directions program.
In 2017 MHC developed a commissioning strategy and implementation plan for the evaluation. In 2019 MHC established and embedded an approach to evaluation governance and management including providing quality assurance for the Future Directions evaluation. Up to 2023 MHC has provided advice to FACSIAR the evaluation.
